“He Ain’t My Kid!” is the title of the first chapter of my book and it begins the story I know God wants at-risk teens to hear. I thought you’d enjoy reading some excerpts from the book. My testimony is to God’s unfailing love and in the book I tell it like happened–raw and uncut, so that troubled young people can connect with the Gospel.
Here’s how the first chapter begins:
He ain’t my kid. Those were Daddy’s first words when he found out that my mom was pregnant with me. No hugs and kisses for Momma. No cigars for the neighbors. No words of praise for the future All Star Champion and President of the USA. (That’s me, in case you’re wondering.) He only welcomed me with denial.
“He ain’t my kid.”
If there had been a window on the womb, here’s what I would have seen the last night my parents were together. I would have watched my dad in a rage, pinning my mother to a bed and trying to shove rosary beads down her throat. He ended up punching a hole through the wall instead of my mother. Not exactly what you’d call the happy couple.
